Short answer is no. All players that were drafted in our inaugural and rookie drafts must be given a contract before waiving anyone who is labeled as a FA.
P.1 i) A minimum of a one year contract must be given to all players drafted in the inaugural draft and Section M does not apply towards these players. i.e., no penalty free drops for these players until after the contract assignment deadline of August 15th.
For example, I must give Tony Romo a contract along with all the other players I drafted before I can release him. He will be a free drop when I do assuming he is still a FA, but I need to wait until all contracts are assigned.
