This Whole Section
S.1 Taxi Squad (TS)
a) Each team can have up to 8 players on the TS.
b) Only rookies (R) may be placed on the TS.
c) Players on the TS do not count against the 125 year cap.
d) Players are allowed to be on the TS for 2 years maximum.
e) Players drafted in rounds 1-5 will be given a contract that will count towards off-season contract assignment prior to demotion.
f) Players drafted in rounds 1-5 cannot be demoted until all contracts on a team are awarded.
g) Any rookie drafted in the 6th and 7th round may be demoted to the TS within one week of the conclusion of the rookie draft prior to being issued a contract. The benefit to this is that their contract will not count against your 125 cap when you are assigning all other player contracts including rookies drafted in rounds 1-5. saving you several years in cap space so long as they remain on your TS.
***You MUST state your intention, in your Team forum thread, to place 6th and 7th round rookies on your TS within 1 Week after the conclusion of the rookie draft. Failure to do so before the 1 week deadline will result in the forfeit of your right to do so and these rookies will follow the same rules posted above regarding rookies drafted between rounds one and five.
h) If a 6th or 7th Round pick that was demoted to the TS within the 1 week deadline, is later promoted after the deadline, he cannot be demoted until all contracts are assigned and will count against your 125 year cap.
i) Once all contracts have been awarded, rookies drafted between rounds 1-5 or those that otherwise lost their early demotion rights can be demoted and promoted as many times as you wish up until the start of week 1 of the regular season.
j) If a rookie is on the active roster at the start of week 1, he may never been demoted to the TS again.
k) TS players may be called up to the active roster at any time allowed under the yearly calendar, however, once a TS player is activated from the TS he can never be demoted again.
l) Players on the TS can be traded. When they are traded they will automatically be placed on the TS of the acquiring team, unless there is no room on the acquiring teams Taxi squad. If the TS of the acquiring team is full, there will be a 48 hour grace period, from the time stamp of the trade being processed, where they can choose to take action to open a TS spot and still have the ability to place the newly acquired player on their TS. If no room is made the player will remain on the active roster, and if over the cap, penalties found in section F.2 of this constitution will apply.
m) All PD penalties apply when releasing players on the TS.
S.2 Taxi Squad Poaching
a) At any time allowed in accordance with the league calendar (see section C) a team may poach a player from another team's Taxi Squad.
b) Owners will have the ability to void the bid and activate first year players rather than receive compensation at a cost. Owners will NOT have the ability to void the bid and activate second year players, they must take the compensation.
c) When a TS player is poached the player must be placed directly on the active roster of the bidding team.
d) Bids for poaching are on a first come, first serve basis.
e) Both 1st year and 2nd year players can be poached, however, there are different compensation guidelines and rules for each, see S.4.
