New League Highlights!

I'm in regardless, but here are my thoughts on the outline:

1,2,3,4- Fine.
5- If it only happens to a team 3 times in a season (on average) is $30 going to stop anyone? Plus I already think that the 'raid' and the 'lottery' will do a fine job at removing the typical incentive to do what you are trying to stop. So I'm not sure this rule is even necessary. If it has to be there, I think starting at $5 makes more sense, and then increase it to $10 if necessary.
6,7- Fine
8- I think there should be some protection for drafted rookies for like 3 years. Otherwise, what's the point of the rookie draft, as it usually takes 2-3 years for them to starting to perform well.
9- Hate it
10- Really hate it
11- Don't care, although I do like the 0.5ppr with 0.5 pt for 1st down hybrid of some sort. Personally, I think 0.25 PPR for RB/WR, 0.5 PPR TE, 0.5pt for 1st down is best, because most 1st downs are going to come from the RB position, then WR, then TE. So making it somewhat of a TE premium for PPR makes sense, since they are already going to lose more significance compared to RB/WR with the introduction of 1st downs.

I think Beefcake proposed this to me as a league theme for this league last year and I think it has potential: Defunct NFL Teams. There is a long list of teams to choose from and some of there old school logos are pretty cool. Thoughts? It can even be football in general doesn't have to be NFL.

I like the idea, as well as a few of the others. It seems you have a pretty good idea of what makes a good theme and how to build the design/graphics around it. How about you select three or four, along with a proposed name for each, and put them out there for final comments?

Oh yeah...I did give this to you last year.  Could be cool.

What about any of these:

1) Saturday Night Live:  Team names could be almost anything revolving around your favorite character or skit.  
2) Gangland is a league about gangs, so what about a league about Outlaws?  Obviously, your team name would be your favorite outlaw.
3) Alcohol:  Pretty obvious.  Your favorite beer, or cocktail.  
4) All-Time Bad NFL players.  Teams could be creative play-on words of any of the worst NFL ballers of all-time.  
5) Tecmo Bowl Theme.  Each team name would be a team in the game, and the graphics would be modeled after the super pixelated game itself.

Ok I'm done.

1. I love this idea, however, graphically speaking, I'm not sure how good this will look or how cohesive the league would look. I'm gonna look into it.
2. This is the same idea as my "Gunslingers" idea from earlier.

3,4,5: Not a fan. We already have a pixelated league in the staple league and I don't want to double down on that. Alcohol and Bad NFL players is too generic for my taste.

League name could be something like: Battlefield Earth, and have each team being a different country fighting to win World War I, World War II, World War III, etc.... Could be cool.

Or maybe just pick a classic board game, like Monopoly. Each team could be a board space.

You could keep it generic and just call the league, Football Wars. Each team would pick their own team name, color, design. On their team page each team would pick a Head Coach, OC, DC, field name. The graphics dude, would create a team page graphic that lists all the info with a pic of each coach. I think that would be fun too.

I'll make a decision and let you guys know. I've heard no response from Jacob asking him if he wants to create one more league for me and the quote I get from a similar graphics/coder is like $1500-$2000, so fuck that. I have contact with another guy who does just graphics, not much coding so the league will use the MFL page as a template. All good though, we should run into less issues year to year. You will receive an email invite from me if your invited within the next 2 weeks. I will need payment ASAP and I will need your team name based/graphic idea, based on the theme, for the graphics guy to make up your team. I'll let you know what league theme we'll go with.

I thought about doing something like this before, I kind of want to revive "Paragon of War", but I haven't decided yet, but unless someone comes up with an amazing one in the next couple days I'm going to choose from the ones so far suggested.
